CEVS

Controlled Environmental Vitrification SystemControlled Environmental Vitrification System (CEVS).
in-house–designed for sample preparation at controlled temperature and humidity. It can be used for organic solvent partial pressure up to saturation, too. Vitrification is achieved by plunging the specimen into liquid ethane at its freezing point, or liquid nitrogen in the case of some organic systems. The specimen are then stored in LN, until they are transferred for observation in the cryo-TEM.
